Travis Bickford serves as Head of Communications and Programs for the Library of Congress Veterans History Project. With a small staff of civil servants working in Washington, DC, Travis and his team work with volunteers to record the stories of veterans and preserve them for future learning and research, sustaining the legacies of those who served.
The Veterans History Project offers a number of resources for volunteers who want to help veterans share their stories — including sample questions, a training video, and virtual or in-person workshops available at no cost.
An Army veteran of the Iraq War, Bickford knows firsthand how important communication with family and friends is while deployed on the front lines of battle. That experience informs his commitment to capturing and preserving the voices of veterans across generations.
